Friday November 30th -- Technology Business Research is pleased to announce it has started coverage of wireless carriers as part of its Network Business Quarterly service. Initial coverage will include the major U.S. wireless carriers, including Verizon Wireless (Verizon Communications/Vodafone joint venture), Cingular (BellSouth/SBC joint venture), VoiceStream (Deutsche Telekom), AT&T Wireless, Sprint PCS and Nextel Communications. Friday November 30th -- On Saturday, December 1st, Telenor Mobil will open its third generation mobile network in accordance with the terms and conditions of the license agreement set by the authorities. Telenor Mobil's UMTS network will initially cover central areas of Oslo with a population of approximately 200,000. UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System) is the new standard for mobile communication.

Monday November 26th Singapore mobile operator, StarHub Mobile Ltd, has suspended service to 10,000 users due to late payment. The company reported that the customer's affected "had invoices outstanding for more than 90 days." Some outstanding bills amount to $500 each. November 1st FunMail announced today successful color tests of a Korean Language version of the FunMail Wireless Animated Messaging system on a Samsung color phone. Using the KTF ME platform and KTF's BREW platform, FunMail's patent-pending system analyzed a short text message and generated a relevant 256-color animation.

Solutions such as wireless modem devices, based on the third-generation (3G) CDMA2000 1x-EV-DO (1x Evolution-Data Only) standard, are expected to be commercially available in mid 2002.
