This project demonstrated high-impact, live audio/video streaming applications over a CDMA2000(R) 1xEV-DO trial network using audio/video management software from Inetcam. The trial featured the voice/data and inter-system roaming capabilities of the CDMA2000 1xEV-DO network and value added mobile applications including:
- Traffic cameras - Remote tele-medicine - Distance learning These applications had been carefully selected to highlight the power of 3G CDMA networks and Inetcam’s iVISTA(TM) technology as a viable tool in bridging the digital divide in South Africa. Furthermore, it provided an effective platform to extend telephony to emerging segments of the South African market in a more cost-effective manner than solutions currently available. The applications were demonstrated using commercially available CDMA2000 1xEV-DO handsets and Inetcam’s award winning iVISTA and iMViewer(TM) software solutions. "Inetcam is very excited to have participated in the South African trials with QUALCOMM," said Al Cavagnero, CEO and president for Inetcam. "Everyone was impressed with both the quality and the breadth of these value added CDMA-based applications and have seen the vast importance of them in both commercial and residential markets." "This demonstration gave the South African wireless market its first glimpse of what is possible with CDMA-based networks and advanced wireless data solutions, and we’re pleased to have teamed with Inetcam in making this possible," said Tom O’Neill, vice president of business development for QUALCOMM. "CDMA technology provides a foundation for the South African market to evolve and experience the benefits of 3G CDMA networks -- the cost savings, greater subscriber capacity, spectral efficiency and superior data transmission capabilities -- while capping its investment in legacy networks." Inetcam Inc., a privately held company headquartered in San Diego, Calif., is an international streaming media management software company that develops and globally distributes high-performance multimedia live video streaming solutions. Inetcam’s award-winning iVISTA software provides scalable streaming solutions from residential to corporate applications and is currently in use in more than 130 countries with over 500,000 users. Founded in 1999, Inetcam products are distributed through a network of OEMs, integrated solution providers, VARs, mobile operators and retailers. |
