Europe : The first Dutch mobile television channel 2GOTV, which is an initiative of Media Republic and Vodafone Netherlands, has won the Spin Award in the category 'best mobile concept'. 'The concept for the first Dutch mobile TV station has been a great success. A great deal of thought has been given to the medium and to what television on a mobile means. The concept makes very effective use of this. 2GOTV is a clear forerunner in this field', according to the jury yesterday evening during the Spin Awards Night 2004 in Amsterdam. The Spin Awards are the most prestigious Dutch annual awards for creativity in interactive communications. The expert jury selected the winners from 242 contenders in six categories. 2GOTV is the first TV station which is produced specially for the mobile phone. 2GOTV has a number of fixed themes with various new television items, which can be viewed 24 hours a day via Vodafone live! UMTS. The broadcasts are presented by personalities who have a strong affinity with each of the themes. As such, the line-up consists of stars such as Jort Kelder (Business), Winston Gerschtanowitz (Society Reporter) and Renate Verbaan (Music), and there are various guest appearances by other famous Dutch stars. By clicking on the category 'Live TV & Video' in the Vodafone live! menu on their UMTS telephone, customers can watch 2GOTV wherever and whenever they like. Vodafone customers pay only 25 eurocents for 10 minutes of television viewing on their mobile. |
