ASIA : Pantech, one of the world’s leading mobile communications groups - comprised of Pantech & Curitel Inc., Pantech Co., Ltd. and Pantech C&I Inc. - has just unveiled its new Power-Pixel phone series, aimed at providing users with the most creative handset camera experience in the world.

The initial models in the Power-Pixel series are the PG-3000 and GF-500, both of which are designed with leading edge, user-friendly camera and multimedia functionality.

Sung-Kyu Lee, President & CEO, Pantech Co., Ltd., said: “Pantech was the first mobile communications company to bring the 1.3 mega pixel camera phone to the world. As we expand our global reach in 2005, we are committed to rolling out the benefits of our innovative approach to camera phone technology to consumers across all markets”.

The PG-3000 is a slim - just 21.9mm thick - slider model, with an extraordinary array of functionality, including a 1.3 mega pixel CMOS camera that also works like a semi-camcorder, supporting MJPEG files. The model also contains an internal antenna concealed by rounded silver edges.

In particular, the PG-3000 supports the IrDA (Infrared Data Association) function, which means that photos and images can be exchanged between the handset and a PC.

The GF500, which weighs just under 90gs, provides consumers with a slim, modern look. The new phone contains a 1.3 mega pixel camera and internal flash - along with a white light emitting diode (LED) panel on top - as well as wide ranging multimedia support capability.

For movie enthusiasts, the high-quality video graphic adapter (VGA) camera in the GF500 delivers movies in MJPEG format for up to 20 minutes. Subsequently, images saved on the phone can be replayed in either JPEG or MJPEG format.
