By combining presence and messaging with location information, carriers can personalize the user experience and offer a richer set of differentiated services. For example, automated "instant messaging-like" alerts could be sent to users when their friends, relatives, or colleagues get within proximity of their location. Similarly, a two-way instant message could be initiated to two people in a dating service whose profiles indicate a match once they get within range of each other. In the arena of mobile commerce, automated "low intrusion" instant messages could be sent to wireless subscribers featuring specials from nearby establishments that the subscriber has opted into, such as coffee shops, restaurants, retail outlets, movie theaters and museums. "The next generation of LBS is characterized by the combination of presence, personalization, messaging and location," comments Vipul Sawhney, vice president of technology for LocatioNet, Inc. "By partnering with dynamicsoft, LocatioNet is poised to bring these advanced services to wireless carriers and help define LBS in 2.5 and 3G networks." "Presence and location are critical pieces of information needed to create and deploy compelling wireless services that generate revenue and lock in customers through a highly-personalized experience," said Steve Roskowski, vice president of marketing at dynamicsoft. "By partnering with LocatioNet, dynamicsoft is able to offer our carrier customers a complete solution for creating and deploying these services today." |
