Siemens Mobile Acceleration GmbH today announced its first investment in China - the world’s largest and fastest growing mobile communications market.

Siemens Mobile Acceleration’s new portfolio company, Magus Soft Holding Ltd. is a Pioneer of mobile gaming and entertainment applications: Play a game of cards or improve your golf swing while killing time on the bus; go online and form a space fleet with your friends for a special mission into unknown galaxies; or play mini versions of your favorite PC or console game on your mobile phone - it has become reality with Magus Soft’s mobile application development environment, high performance game engines, and innovative game concepts.

Founded in January 2001, the Beijing based company develops and markets complete mobile entertainment solutions to operators, handset manufacturers and end-users. Magus Soft is particularly experienced in the Chinese market and the Asia-Pacific region. Thus the company’s strategy focuses on these markets.

Mobile operators and handset vendors expect that the proliferation of mobile entertainment will boost usage and sales of mobile phones. “Mobile gaming is expected to drive the adoption of mobile data services, and mobile gaming is particularly popular in Asian countries.” explains Siemens Mobile Acceleration CEO Dr. Dietrich Ulmer the investment by Siemens. “Mobile phones and other wireless devices will become the most commonly used platforms for interactive entertainment in the coming years”, believes Lu Yong, CEO of Magus Soft, “because they enable fun and entertainment, anytime and anywhere.”

Magus Soft offers a wide portfolio of games covering all categories (action, strategy, sports, etc.) and all mobile platforms and technologies (SMS, WAP, K-Java and Brew.) The company has a specific expertise in developing downloadable and embedded games, giving the company a clear competitive advantage in China’s fledging mobile gaming market.

True to its mission of “innovating like mad”, Magus Soft is on the forefront of researching emerging technologies, aiming to continuously provide mobile phone users with new, thrilling gaming experiences.

In “Skater”, the latest game of Magus Soft, you’re a skater dude cruising down the street. The goal of the game is to stay on the skateboard as long as you can and earn points by avoiding obstacles in your way and performing stunts. The more and fancier stunts you pull-off, the higher score you’ll get. "Skater" is developed for Java-enabled handsets and will be available for download this fall throughout Europe and the Asia-Pacific region on www.my-siemens.com.

“We are honored to be Siemens Mobile Acceleration’s first Chinese investment. This engagement will accelerate our growth,” says Lu Yong. “Our company will benefit tremendously from Siemens’ industry insight, market know how and global sales network. With Siemens Mobile Acceleration as our strong partner, we will become a successful global mobile entertainment player.”

The Siemens Mobile Acceleration GmbH also fosters the following companies: scaraboo GmbH (Germany), The PhonePages of Sweden AB (Sweden) and mediabricks AB (Sweden).
