Currently, the PDC transmission fee is 0.3 yen per packet, regardless of the amount of packets consumed (one packet is equivalent to 128 alphanumerics). Under the new plan, the transmission fee will drop to 0.2 yen per packet after 100,000 packets have been used. Reduced packet transmission fees for FOMA service users will vary according to the number of packets consumed per month and the individual billing plan (see attachment). DoCoMo will also revise its i-mode pricing structure for both PDC and FOMA services. Although the total monthly charge for PDC service usage will remain unchanged at 300 yen, the i-mode charge will increase 50 yen, from 100 yen to 150 yen, while the basic packet transmission charge will decrease 50 yen, from 200 yen to 150 yen. The monthly i-mode charge for FOMA service usage will increase 50 yen, from 100 yen to 150 yen. This will be offset, however, by a 50 yen increase in "free" usage that will be included in the basic monthly fee. In accordance with official requirements, DoCoMo and its subsidiaries have today notified the Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications of these new rates. |
