H3G Selects Connectivity Leader to Serve Up Infrastructure Necessary to Provide Quality 3G Wireless Service
22nd August 2002

ADC announced a supplier agreement with H3G Italy. Under terms of the agreement, ADC will provide H3G with broadband connectivity products needed to complete its 3G network in Italy. The third-generation network will enable Hutchison 3G Italy to offer a range of compelling new services to a growing number of mobile users.

The two-year agreement calls for H3G to use a wide array of ADC products ranging from digital signal cross connects (DSX), optical cross connects (OX), FiberGuide(R) fiber cabling systems, FL2000 wall and rack-mount panels, fiber management trays, and patch cords in addition to other connectivity gear produced by ADC. The products are approved for use throughout H3G in Italy as it builds out existing and new base stations and transmission sites.

"The agreement with ADC is another step in our strategy to carry out high-quality infrastructures and technological platforms," said Bob Fuller, H3G CEO. "Joined with the exclusive content we have acquired, it will let us present a winning offer to the market."
The announcement furthers ADC's relationship with the Hutchison Whampoa affiliates working on 3G in Europe. In September 2001, Hutchison 3G UK announced that it would deploy ADC's Singl.eView(TM) Convergent Billing system to support its multimedia services including voice, data, e-mail, and information services. The system is being implemented in Italy, with plans to make it available in every country where Hutchison Whampoa has 3G interests.

"It's clear that successful networks must be based on infrastructure designed to grow with the network," said Pat O'Brien, vice president of ADC's Connectivity Business Unit. "ADC is pleased to help establish a solid network foundation rooted in connectivity, and further our relationship as the Hutchison Whampoa Group builds a quality 3G network through its affiliates in Europe."
