Inc. ("InMotion") -- an innovator of passenger area networking
solutions, today announced the launch of the onBoard(TM) Mobile Gateway,
the industry's first in-vehicle 3G-based wireless HotSpot. The onBoard
Mobile Gateway is a next generation, ruggedized wireless services hardware
platform combining the mobility of third generation (3G) cellular data
networks with the ease and ubiquity of Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) resulting
in seamless connectivity to the Internet for vehicle passengers. "By creating a proprietary, accelerated bridge between 3G and WiFi, our objective is to allow WiFi-centric consumers to seamlessly benefit from the newly deployed 3G cellular data network while traveling in vehicles," said Kirk Moir, President and CEO, for In Motion Technology. "We're excited to be introducing the onBoard Mobile Gateway and the onBoard HotSpot service to help improve the productivity of ground transportation passengers. Partnering with ground transportation providers is critical to this objective." In conjunction with the announcement of onBoard Mobile Gateway, In Motion Technology also announced the availability of the onBoard HotSpot managed service for transportation service providers. The onBoard Hotspot service bundles the onBoard Mobile Gateway, 3G cellular service and all installation, management and maintenance services required to equip vehicle fleets. Completely turnkey and proactively monitored, the onBoard Hotspot service allows corporate transportation companies to rapidly and efficiently introduce this new capability to their passengers as either a bundled or a la carte service.
