US : GoAhead (R)Software announced the selection of its SelfReliant(R) middleware by TELOS Technology, Inc. (TELOS) and China Putian Institute of Technology (CPIT) for their 3G softswitch and SGSN products. The decision to use SelfReliant marks another win for GoAhead's integrated suite of middleware for carrier-grade availability. Under a joint development agreement, CPIT and TELOS will co-develop and independently sell softswitch and SGSN products worldwide. Both companies lead the 3GPP R5 technology development of an all-IP, voice and data next generation wireless network. At the February 2003 GSM World Congress, TELOS won the GSM Award for Technology Innovation for Best Infrastructure. GoAhead's SelfReliant supplies the availability and management middleware critical to meeting operators' demand for 99.999% availability in their network infrastructure systems. "After carefully testing several high availability alternatives, we selected GoAhead SelfReliant for its breadth of features," said Jack Mar, CEO of TELOS Technology. "We save valuable time to market with an off-the-shelf software solution, yet still deliver a full carrier-grade solution to our customers worldwide." In TELOS' and CPIT's 3G softswitch and SGSN, SelfReliant runs on the Solaris operating system. SelfReliant manages the softswitch redundant components, including TELOS and CPIT applications, the hardware and operating system for 99.999% levels of availability in an open, distributed architecture. "SelfReliant reduces a project team's development effort by providing pre-integrated availability middleware that has been proven in deployed wireless networks," said Paul Zoba, vice president of marketing for GoAhead Software. "TELOS and CPIT further accelerate time to market and reduce costs by exercising all of SelfReliant's capabilities, rather than developing this middleware functionality in-house." GoAhead SelfReliant Middleware SelfReliant runs as a middleware layer on top of the operating system to manage redundant components for 99.999% availability and reliability. It features 2-3 millisecond failover speeds, checkpointing to preserve application data, and over 38,000 per second distributed message delivery. Real-time capture, storage and replication of system and/or application data assure continuous, uninterrupted service. Its compact footprint (less than 4.5 MB) and low CPU usage (less than 3% of CPU capacity) are ideal for the tight resource constraints typical of embedded systems. External management is conducted either through a web console or network management via SNMP. The modular design supports building solutions with off-the-shelf components and little to no integration. Its flexibility also allows phasing in high availability functionality over multiple releases. For projects that require full HA at first release, GoAhead SelfReliant Suite is pre-integrated for fast, easy deployment. GoAhead offers a range of packages to make getting started with SelfReliant easy and quick. |
