: As part of an ongoing development programme geared to enhancing
its market leading position, BABT has increased its compliance test
capacity for the cellular marketplace, reducing time to market for
GSM and handheld device manufacturers.
Now with
extensive GSM and EMC testing facilities at Maplewood in Basingstoke,
BABT has added substantially to its capacity for performing GSM/GPRS
900/1800/1900MHz testing. The Maplewood facility includes a variety
of equipment from Anite, Orga and Rohde & Schwarz, together with
a state-of-the-art EMC test facility covering many non GSM/GPRS industry
sectors, as well as mobile devices. This facility complements BABT’s
EMC facility in Bearley and GSM/GPRS/3G, EMC, environmental and safety
testing facility in Fareham.
The test
facility will operate under BABT management, including maintenance
of quality systems and coordination with BABT Notified Body in Hersham
when certification is required. The Maplewood facility benefits from
UKAS Accreditation (No 0141 Group), can perform GCF testing in accordance
with the latest compliance criteria, is a PTCRB-recognised test facility,
and benefits from FCC and Industry Canada listing for the North American
marketplace.
With
testing being carried out under BABT’s accreditation, client
confidentiality and integrity are assured. BABT project engineers
will continue to manage all testing within a compliance programme,
whether performed at Maplewood or at BABT’s laboratory in Fareham.
BABT will also look to enhance the Maplewood test facility to extend
its capability for providing testing services for other product areas
outside of handheld products.
