Europe : 3, the UK’s first video mobile network, has strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of Ed Williams as Director of Corporate Communications. The newly created position boosts the company’s communications capabilities as it expands its presence in the competitive UK mobile phone market. Williams, 32, joins 3 from financial public relations firm Brunswick and will take up the post in August. Reporting into the Corporate Affairs Director, Mark Rigby, he will have responsibility for the overall communications strategy, overseeing internal and external corporate communications. Williams spent almost six years at Brunswick working across a variety of retained clients, financial transactions and special projects. He advised on the Barclay brothers’ acquisition of the Telegraph Group, was retained as a speechwriter for Reuters Chief Executive, Tom Glocer, and advised General Wesley Clark during his appearance at the Milosevic trial in the Hague. He started his career in journalism, training as a reporter at London News Service and worked as a freelance writer before joining GMTV as a producer/reporter before being promoted to News Editor. Bob Fuller, Chief Executive of 3, said: “I am delighted that Ed has joined the team at 3. The company is growing at a tremendous pace and Ed’s strong background in corporate communications will be a huge asset as we move into our next phase.” Ed Williams said: “I am very excited to be joining 3 - one of the fastest growing consumer brands in the UK - and to have the opportunity to work with Bob and the executive team as 3 grows and builds on its leadership position in 3G technology.” |
