Europe
: T-Mobile launched the first 3G customer test of Hungary and the company
continuously increases its third generation network – enabling
video telephony, mobile television and fast mobile Internet –
as well as the number of the 3G roaming partners. By connecting significantly
more new base stations T-Mobile substantially increases its 3G coverage
in Budapest and as a new feature in the field of roaming, from now onwards
foreigners can also use the video telephony service in Budapest.
T-Mobile's 3G test network in Budapest – substantially outperforming the requirements stipulated in the tender invitation* - will cover almost half of Budapest by early August. Resulting from the accelerated network roll-out by the last summer month the market leading mobile operator has tripled the number of 3G base stations, compared to the original number at the time of launching the customer test. Further to increasing coverage the company targets to make 3G indoor coverage as extensively as possible, whilst offering the best possible quality to users by tuning the network. Piece of interest: further to offering 3G mobile multimedia – i.e.: video telephony, mobile TV and fast mobile Internet – in Budapest, these services will also be available at the Unbarring racetrack, during the Hungarian Formula 1 Grand Prix. Video telephony will be available in an increasing number of countries also outside Hungary, as the list of 3G roaming partners increased to 9 recently by involving Bookmobile in Luxembourg. Another novelty: T-Mobile made its 3G test network fully accessible; therefore not only can Hungarian T-Mobile customers roam abroad, but most foreign visitors to Budapest – mainly subscribers of partner networks belonging to Free Move – can also use this service. FreeMove FreeMove – the world's largest mobile alliance – was established by T-Mobile International, Orange, the Telefonica group and TIM. The goal of the alliance is to offer simple and beneficial mobile usage to its customers around the world through close co-operation of participating operators and offering beneficial terms in the field of international roaming, co-ordinated services (e.g. GPRS, MMS, 3G, corporate applications) and common terminal procurement. * The tender issued by the National Communications Authority on frequency usage license related to the IMT-2000/UMTS system based third generation mobile radio telecommunication services |
