3G Mobile Data Traffic in Exabytes in 2014

3G Mobile Data Traffic in Exabytes in 2014

6th August, 2009

US : The mobile data sent / received traffic for the whole of 2008 will only represent a single month’s traffic sent / received in 2014. This represents a twelve fold increase as forecast by ABI Research in a new report. Inset is Jeff Orr, the report author.

A short time ago mobile data traffic was associated with the users of smartphones such as Blackberries. But now, it mainly comes from the users of 3G USM modems plugged into laptops and PCs. This fact has not been overlooked by PC manufacturers and by 2014 more than 50% of 3G mobile data traffic will be achieved by PCs with in-built 3G modems.

By 2014 1.3 Exabytes ( 1,300,000,000,000,000,000 Bytes ) of mobile data will be sent / received monthly. That’s a lotta data.

The above  is taken from the report - Mobile Data Traffic Analysis and is a detailed forecast regarding the growth of 3G mobile data traffic and subscribers as well as technological issues.
