5 Million iPhones 3G S for China Unicom

China : It has been reported in China, that China Unicom is expected to place an order for 5 million iPhones with Apple. China Unicom could well become the exclusive iPhone distributor in China it has been reported.


It has been further reported by local Chinese press that the launch could happen as early as September this year with the iPhone first being available at large retailers. It is not sure whether the 8GB or 16GB iPhone 3G S will be sold at the initial launch.


China Unicom is also reported to have undertaken field trials of the iPhone 3Gs with no reported network issues.

 

However, no final agreement has yet been confirmed by either Apple or China Unicom.
