Mobile Phone Useage Not Really Dampened by Recession

UK : A new study in the UK by Ofcom has released new details on how much we all love our mobile phones. The recession is failing to stop us texting and calling via our mobile phones which are seen by UK consumers as important even though cash is tight.
Only 19 per cent of those surveyed said they would cut back on mobile phone costs whereas over 47 per cent would cut back on meals out.
Neraly 50 per cent of users liked taking two or more services from one 3G mobile phone operator. That’s increased by a third in the last 12 months. Also, consumers are more ikely to shop-around for best value deals in the recession with around 25 per cent of those surveyed confirming this.
There were over 250K new 3G mobile broadband connections in May 2009 which is nearly double the figure from May 2008.
Peter Phillips, Ofcom Partner, Strategy & Market Developments said: 'Despite the recession, people are spending more time watching TV, using their mobile phone or accessing the internet.
