GPRS Platform for Chinese Wireless Market

TTP Communications announces that TCL mobile Communication Ltd, China's largest manufacturer of mobile phones, has licensed TTPCom's GPRS (2.5G) platform.
Using TTPCom's software TCL will be able to develop advanced handsets that offer users new services based on the higher data rates available on 2.5G networks.

Dr. Tony Milbourn, Managing Director at TTPCom commented 'TCL and TTPCom have been working together for some time now and TCL have recently launched their first GSM phones using TTPCom's GSM software into the Chinese market. TCL have developed a strong engineering team with considerable skills in wireless communications technology.

Using TTPCom's GPRS platform they will be able to develop more advanced handsets that use the new 2.5G networks in China.' He continued, 'TTPCom is a totally independent source of 3G, GPRS and GSM protocol and application software. Our experience of entire mobile systems, from applications to antenna, enables us to integrate the very latest technology including digital cameras, 3D gaming and location based technology into our existing platforms. Chinese manufacturers working with TTPCom are able to develop sophisticated handsets that compete effectively with those from the world's leading manufacturers.'

'TTPCom has a strong track record in technology licensing and using its proven
platforms TCL will be able to bring new products to market quickly. TCL have
developed a leading position in China's mobile phone market and by working with
TTPCom we are able to take full control of the product development' stated Dr.
Wan Mingjian, CEO of TCL Mobile.

TTPCom has been conducting business in China since 1994 and in the year ended
March 2002 almost 10% of TTPCom's revenue, came directly from China.
