First 3G Compliant Global Roaming Exchange Service in Japan

Cable & Wireless IDC announced that on December 20 it would provide the first 3G-compliant Global Roaming Exchange (GRX) service available in Japan to J-PHONE Co., Ltd. J-PHONE will use this service to provide "Packet Data Roaming Service", one of the services of its international Third Generation Partnership Project ("3GPP") standard-based Vodafone Global Standard service announced on December 3.

Cable & Wireless IDC's GRX service enables mobile operators to provide subscribers with seamless international data roaming by utilising Cable & Wireless' GRX network connecting more than 70 countries around the world for interconnection of domestic and international mobile networks.
