Commission to Hold Hearing on 3G

3rd February 2003

In the frame of the public consultation on open platforms in digital TV and 3G running until 15 February, the Commission will hold a hearing on interoperability and open platforms for digital television and 3G mobile communications.

Based on a working report, the hearing aims to collect the stakeholders' view on how to tackle the remaining barriers to the achievement of widespread access to new services and applications of the Information Society through open platforms in digital television and 3G mobile communications.

Once the public consultation is concluded, a final report should be adopted as a formal communication by the Parliament, the Council, the Committee of the Regions and Economic and Social Committee.
