| Alcatel Awarded 3G / UMTS Contract |

Under the terms of the contract, Alcatel is in charge of the turnkey delivery and implementation of a comprehensive set of 3G mobile voice & data services on Orange's live 3G/UMTS experimental networks. Alcatel will deliver a first set of ten 3G packaged services focusing on major service areas, including evolution from Voice to Videotelephony, Messaging/Communication, Infotainment and Gaming, as well as Personalization. Real subscribers, representative of a national audience will be able to experience live multimedia services such as on-line gaming, live soccer events, fixed to mobile videotelephony, video mailbox, personal multimedia storage, audio/video streaming & downloading as well as Alcatel's MultiMedia Messaging applications, MMS-based video messaging or buddy presence services. To achieve this, Alcatel is taking full responsibility for the end-to-end integration of the packaged services, and is ensuring the turnkey Hosting and technical Operation & Maintenance of the service platforms, as well as interoperability validation with various 3G mobile network infrastructure providers and 3G mobile phones suppliers. Furthermore, building on the openness of its service-enabling platforms, Alcatel establishes itself as a reliable integrator of innovative end-to-end and open solutions through tight partnerships with major third-party application and content providers such as Virgin, Gameloft, BeTomorrow, 20th Century Fox, Dioranews, PacketVideo, Radvision, and many others. in the framework of the OrangeFrance live 3G test program. |
