US Calif. : Ixia announced that it has completed the previously announced acquisition of the video telephony test products of privately-held Dilithium Networks for $5.1 million.

With this acquisition, Ixia is introducing the first product in its new IxMobile(TM) suite, a comprehensive family of test tools focused on mobile wireless conformance, interoperability, capacity, and performance testing. IxMobile Video Telephony (VT) is based on the Dilithium Network Analyzer (DNA) test product. This technology has an estimated 80% market share with over 130 installed units at more than sixty-five 3G wireless equipment manufacturers and operators.

Mobile equipment manufacturers and operators can use IxMobile Video Telephony in conjunction with Ixia's IxLoad(TM), IxChariot(R), and IxVoice(TM) products to test a wide array of IP and circuit-switched data, voice, video, and signaling infrastructures.

IxMobile VT is the only test solution for testing AnswerFast Plus(R), used by leading handset manufacturers to speed video call setup. IxMobile VT comes in both portable and bench-top versions for lab and field User-Endpoint (UE) emulation, monitoring, and analysis of traffic to and from video-capable 3G UEs over a variety of mobile, telecom, and IP interfaces. IxMobile VT provides capture, replay, QoS measurement, KPI, and call reporting functions. As part of the acquisition, key software engineering and support personnel have joined Ixia's wireless-focused team to maintain product continuity, accelerate enhancements, and support DNA and IxMobile VT customers. IxMobile VT is fully backwardly compatible with DNA, providing a seamless upgrade path that protects the investment of existing DNA customers.
