GSM Association Trial to Boost Global Roaming

GSM Association Trial to Boost Global Roaming

25th February, 2009

Europe : Accuris Networks has successfully participated in the GSM Association’s (GSMA) Open Connectivity Roaming Hub Trial. Accuris Networks worked with a number of its partners on the project, the result of which will allow mobile operators to simplify and enhance their roaming agreementsacross the world's 750 GSM networks.

28 operators and 10 vendors from across the globe participated in the trial, carrying out over 830 tests. The trial successfully demonstrated interoperability of the four alternative roaming hubbing architectures and validated the main processes involved.

Accuris Networks provide solutions for all four main hubbing architectures and are continuing to work with a number of hubbing providers to deliver these solutions.

“Once a mobile operator has connected to a hub, their customers will then be able to roam on the networks of all the other operators connected either directly or indirectly to that hub,” said Alex Sinclair, Chief Technology Officer of the GSMA. “This is a significant improvement over the current approach where operators have to establish one-to-one bilateral connections with every roaming partner.”

“Accuris Networks remains at the forefront of seamless global roaming as reflected in the invitation to participate in this successful trial,” commented Aidan Dillon, CEO, Accuris Networks. “Through our AccuROAM suite of products we have pioneered the way for seamless access and roaming across diverse technologies. We will continue to build on this experience to ensure that we remain the leading supplier of technologies to support open access and global roaming.

Accuris Networks provides technology which allows operators to enable seamless service continuity among multiple network access technologies, as well as benefiting from the growing convergence of mobile and fixed telephony. As well as CDMA to GSM, its flagship product AccuROAM allows GSM to GSM (dual-IMSI) roaming and cellular to SIP-enabled networks such as IMS, LTE, Wi-Fi and WiMAX.
