World
First with GCF Approval of 3G Test Cases |

Anite announced approval of the company's validated 3G test cases by the Global Certification Forum (GCF). The GCF-approved test cases from Anite enable the testing and verification of mobile phones and wireless terminals for use on next-generation -- 3G -- cellular networks. This formal approval distinguishes Anite as the first and only company in the world to offer 3G test cases accepted for use by the GCF, the governing body responsible for directing development and introduction of 3G services throughout Europe. In approving the company's 3G test cases, the GCF has fully accepted Anite's approach of providing independent test cases and the early validation has confirmed the success of Anite's aggressive strategy to lead the industry with critical wireless test and measurement systems. GCF approval of the Anite test cases allows mobile handset manufacturers to proceed more rapidly -- and in greater confidence -- with the development and validation of products that support the UMTS standard for 3G wireless communications. Many manufacturers have resisted investing in next-generation products as they wait for a reliable, GCF-approved means of testing and qualifying the devices against 3GPP standards for wireless operation. This has slowed the development and delivery of mobile phones and other wireless devices for operation on UMTS networks, impacting the broader introduction of 3G services. Anite's GCF-approved test cases will accelerate the rollout of 3G services by providing wireless carriers the assurance that UMTS handsets operate as intended on their respective 3G network. With the official "green light" from the GCF, Anite customers now have confidence that they will have access to the full range of 3G conformance tests with the assurance of industry approval and device and network interoperability. The GCF-approved test cases from Anite are based on test specifications developed by 3GPP and have been proven against a number of reference handset implementations by an independent test house. "The
GCF approval of 3G test cases from Anite is a significant milestone
for the entire industry," said Daniel Oosthuizen, director, Anite.
"We have lacked to this point a definitive standard for measuring
and certifying the operation of terminals and other devices on next-generation
networks." Availability The GCF-approved test cases for UE development and conformance testing are available now from Anite alongside the company's development, conformance and interoperability testing platforms.
