The
Industry Coalition of TD-SCDMA of China is about to absorb new members
from home and abroad after the Chinese Spring Festival. The first batch of members is Datang Telecom Technology and Industry Group, Shenzhen Zhongxing Communications Co., Ltd, Legend Group, Huawei, Soutech, China Putian Group, Huali Company, and China Electronics Co., Ltd. They will first use the 3G technology owned by Datang. Now, Kokia, Samsung, LG, Siemens, and Nasdaq-listed Utstarcom want to be the second members. But the coalition may turn some of them down. Datang charges very low patent fees for the first batch of members, even free for some members. The first batch of eight companies is working on research of 3G mobile phones and equipment.
