Deutsche Telekom to Launch 3G 2003 3Q

The German telecommunications giant Deutsche Telekom said it would launch commercial 3G mobile phone services in Germany from the third quarter of the current year.

The group told a telecoms congress Wednesday that it planned to have the third generation of multi-media mobile phones services, dubbed Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), up and running by the third quarter of 2003.
