Unicom Launches CDMA1X Wireless in Shanghai |

CHINA Sinocast - China Unicom CDMA Shanghai Company General Manager Xie Guoqing said that the action indicates that China Unicom's CDMA has formally moved into 2.5G. News from Shanghai Unicom said that the company brought forward to launch CDMA1X business before the Spring Festival because there will be more phone calls, SMS, and other value-added service needs during the holidays. Shanghai Unicom said that their new fees proposal is waiting approval from head office. However, insiders revealed that during the period when the nationwide universal fee rates are not announced, Shanghai Unicom will set up a trial period for CDMA1X users. That is to say, it is free to use CDMA1X now. Besides, Shanghai Unicom also launched a U-MAX wireless CDMA data business. It provides WAP browsing, multimedia download, and speedy internet access service up to 153.6k bps. Shortly, Shanghai Unicom will provide VOD, GPS, e-map and navigation, and mobile e-business services.
