First Deliveries Of 3G Load Tester

US : Catapult Communications announced first customer shipments of their new m5000 hardware platform. Designed for 3G load test applications, the m5000 provides a significant performance upgrade for Catapult's DCT2000® and MGTS i3000® digital communications test systems.

According to Dave Mayfield, Catapult President and COO, "As the telecom industry deploys 3G around the world, there is an urgent need to test products and services under high load. As evidenced by being chosen '2003 Product of the Year' by Internet Telephony Magazine ( http://www.tmcnet.com/it/ ), the Catapult m5000 platform directly addresses that need."

The Catapult m5000 chassis is based on industry standard CompactPCI specifications and utilizes a high speed serial mesh architecture to interconnect up to 18 cPCI cards. The m5000 architecture provides great flexibility and allows multiple processor cards to be linked to a single physical interface, an important feature for developers doing high end load testing. First m5000 customer shipments include a new dual-processor OC3/OC12 interface card, which supports OC3 single mode or multimode, and OC12 single mode communications.
