: 3G Americas and The Association of Telecommunications Enterprises
of the Andean Community (ASETA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) for a mutual cooperation regarding wireless communications
issues in the region. This cooperative relationship between 3G Americas
and ASETA entails the sharing of technical information and participation
in related wireless events as well as other projects and activities.
The working agreement between these two industry bodies will help
to further strengthen the wireless evolution in the Andean community
as ASETA assists in the harmonious development of telecommunications
and in the process of integration of the Andean region countries
of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela.

President of 3G Americas, commented, "Collaborating with ASETA
on areas of common interests to both our organizations' objectives
benefits the wireless industry and customers in the Andean community.
The focus is just not on the wireless evolution but will also include
spectrum policies and planning, regulation, and using wireless technology
to support the social and economic development in this region."

Director of Latin America and the Caribbean, Erasmo Rojas, emphasized
the importance of undertaking joint projects with ASETA to support
the wireless regulatory activities of Andean countries that would
have an impact in regulatory discussions taking place at CITEL (Inter-American
Telecommunication Commission), the official regulatory body of the
Americas.
Marcelo Lopez, General Secretary of ASETA, added, "We look
forward to working with 3G Americas to address issues on the wireless
development within the Andean community in an effort to expand communications
for all people throughout the region."
