Russia / Canada : Blueslice Networks announced that VimpelCom has selected Blueslice as its new ngHLR and HSS vendor of choice for its subscriber base of over 50 million subscribers.

VimpelCom, which operates under the Beeline brand, won its Russian 3G license in April 2007 and recently completed its 3G tender, awarding contracts to multiple vendors for access and core networks.

Blueslice was selected as the sole vendor for ngHLR, which includes the next generation Home Location Register (HLR) and Home Subscriber Server (HSS).

The Converged Subscriber Platform 3000 ( on left ), which unites all these functions into one node, will allow VimpelCom to manage one common network database for all their subscribers.

Blueslice leveraged its global partnership with Ericsson to deliver the best complete solution. This is an important deal for Ericsson and Blueslice. We got behind the Blueslice ngHLR because its next gen features fit well the demands of VimpelCom, said Zoran Lukovic, Vice President Ericsson Russia.

Stephan Ouaknine, CEO of Blueslice, added: Being selected by the worlds 7th largest carrier demonstrates Blueslices rise as a premier supplier of subscriber management solutions and the importance of data consolidation, as well as support for SIP and WiFi/WiMAX. We worked very closely with Ericsson to deliver the best ngHLR solution to VimpelCom.
