US : SRS Labs announced that NEC has delivered the world's first mobile phones featuring SRS's advanced TruMedia suite. SRS TruMedia, developed for mobile entertainment, is a premium suite featuring state-of-art audio enriching technologies and advanced voice intelligibility processing technology.
NEC, a long time partner of SRS Labs', worked closely with SRS when designing their new multimedia mobile phones. After achieving tremendous success over the years with mobile phones featuring SRS WOW(R), NEC wanted to offer consumers a combination of crystal clear voice communications and superior entertainment experience particularly for multimedia applications such as One-segment TV, MP3 player, WMV files and the music video channel. SRS' all new, feature-rich TruMedia multimedia mobile audio suite proved to be just what NEC was looking for to boost the multimedia capabilities of its new family of mobile phones. The first models to feature SRS TruMedia are N-01A, N-02A, and N-04A.
"SRS technologies offer a clear and demonstrable audio difference, so when we were designing our new phones to deliver a comprehensive and superior multimedia experience, SRS TruMedia was the obvious choice," says Mr. Kazuyuki Tsunoda, General Manager, Mobile Terminals Development Division, NEC Corporation. "We are very pleased to work so closely with the SRS experts when developing our new mobile phones. And, thanks to SRS TruMedia, we are very excited to bring to our customers the audio experience they've been asking for - one with realistic dimension and dynamic range, seamlessly integrated into a potent audio suite."
The patented SRS technologies featured in SRS TruMedia not only provide voice intelligibility for clear communication, but also offer a thrilling, cinema-like 5.1 surround sound experience over headphones when viewing multichannel video content. Users are fully engaged with natural and immersive 3D audio from stereo and music files. Regardless of media content, with SRS TruMedia, consumers on-the-go will be delighted by a compelling entertainment experience complete with deep rich base!
"While communication is still a number one feature of mobile phones, it is no longer the only use. Today's users demand superior multimedia capabilities in their phones, making a premium audio experience just as important as a clearly understood phone conversation," said Allen H. Gharapetian, vice president of marketing for SRS Labs. "SRS recognized the tremendous impact the growth of mobile video and multimedia applications would generate and developed SRS TruMedia to provide the premier solution for the mobile market. We are excited to have been able to work with NEC in developing the first phones to incorporate these technologies. Together, we're able to offer mobile consumers the best possible entertainment and communication experience, anywhere, anytime."
SRS TruMedia also delivers the ultimate communication experience. Today's mobile lifestyle requires consumers to use devices in diverse, challenging, and oftentimes noisy environments. SRS TruMedia provides an active ambient noise management system, allowing phone's user to better hear, and be heard. In normal listening environments, the tonal quality of the spoken voice has a deep, rich bass. And when the phone is used in noisy environments, SRS TruMedia will sharpen the spoken voice and enhance the overall volume gain in real-time, remarkably improving voice intelligibility with the singular objective of helping the handset user better discern what the other party is saying.
N-01A, N-02A, and N-04A are just the first of many NEC mobile phones to feature SRS TruMedia. These initial models each come in numerous color variations, feature a 3" or larger display screen and offer over 200 minutes (3G) of talk time. N-01A and N-02A are available through DOCOMO shops and other consumer electronics retail stores throughout Japan, N-04A is going to be released in March from January, 2009.
To commemorate the launch of SRS TruMedia, SRS Labs is running a sweepstakes to give away 3 Motorola MotoQ mobile phones featuring SRS solutions! The sweepstakes will take place January 20 - February
