Artera Group Inc announced a wireless application for Artera Turbo(TM) Virtual Broadband(TM). Wireless Internet browsing can be achieved using a cellular phone to deliver Virtual Broadband to the PC. This is an important application for people trying to conduct business while on the road, in airports or remote locations. When Artera Turbo Virtual Broadband is applied to the Verizon Express 3G service, which normally delivers speeds of 40 to 60 kbps, minimum average speeds of 256 kbps, comparable to DSL, can be achieved. Virtual Broadband enhances the speed of all browsing activities including web surfing, web-based email and file transfer. Artera Turbo Virtual Broadband is expected to be available in late 2002. "We
implemented this application using a Verizon Express Wireless cell phone
with the $99 unlimited minutes data option," said Michael J. Parrella,
chairman and CEO of the NCT Group, Inc. "Within four hours, which
is the time it takes to activate the service, we were running Virtual
Broadband. The wireless implementation is a very exciting one. When
you consider the poor landline capabilities around the world, Artera's
wireless Virtual Broadband solution can be a cost effective alternative." Artera Turbo delivers Virtual Broadband by optimizing last mile performance of Internet connections. The performance of traditional dial-up connections as well as broadband connections such as cable, DSL, ISDN and T1 can be dramatically improved. Artera Group has patents pending on these performance enhancement techniques. In addition to speed, Artera Turbo provides all other features necessary for optimal Internet usage -- ultra-secure firewall, content control, e-mail, usage accounting and much more in a single plug and play package. |
