Inc announced availability of a new 4mm square, linear, power amplifier
module (PAM) designed for transmit functions in CDMA2K 1X (3G) cellular
multi-mode, data-enabled handset applications. The amplifier is a member
of Celeritek's new QuadAmp family of 3-volt PAMs. Packaged in a low-cost,
space efficient, matched module, it delivers excellent electrical stability
and low thermal resistance.
Model CHP0205-QM is produced using Celeritek's InGAP HBT technology, offering designers and manufacturers alike, a thermally robust and reliable PAM. Celeritek's semiconductor design and manufacturing expertise has produced a low-cost GaAs-only amplifier, uniquely designed with simplified construction of a two-sided, single-layer laminate, as opposed to a GaAs-and-silicon multi-layer laminate offered by other manufacturers.

The amplifier operates from 822 to 849 MHz and offers 36% linear power added efficiency, +28 dBm output power, lower RF power efficiency enhancement, 50 ohm internal matching and on-board DC power down mode. The device is packaged in a 4mm x 4mm x 1.5mm power module. As an additional benefit to designers and manufacturers, reduced circuit board space and cost is further achieved through minimal external circuitry for bias and matching, simplifying production assembly. Samples of the CHP0205-QM and evaluation test fixtures are available from stock.
