Designed by Strategic Telematics for a major N.American telecommunications company to install in their fleet of 16000 vehicles, the PICCI-3G is a compact, rugged system designed for Automotive and Industrial telematics applications that require a fast cellular connection, high CPU processing performance and low power consumption.

The PICCI-3G design has been optimized for high-volume applications where cost is a critical factor. Thse include large vehicle fleets, ATM's, vending machines and monitoring or remote power and water stations. This is further supported by the wide operating temperature range of -40 to +85C (modem dependent).

The system consists of a single motherboard containing the 206MHz Intel SA-1110 processor; 32Mbyte Flash memory; 64Mbyte SDRAM; a CDMA 2000 1xRTT cellular modem with microphone and loudspeaker connectors, 10/100BaseT Ethernet; two USB interfaces; four RS232 ports; two RS485 ports for connecting distributed data acquisition devices, LCD controller interface and a 8 to 36 VDC power supply with reverse voltage and transient protection (suitable for trucks, cars and industrial 24 VDC supplies).

On request, Strategic Test can supply the Zeon with alternative GSM, GPRS or other cellular modems. The PICCI-3G is supplied with either Windows CE, CE.NET or ARM Linux.
