New Camera Phone for Sprint

ASIA : Curitel Communications Inc. (M.S. Song, President & CEO), Korea’s major producer of mobile phone, shipped off 1.3 Mpix camera phones (PM8920) to Sprint, a leading edge in the US telecommunication services.

The PM8920, equipped with 1.3 mega-pixel CMOS sensor, is considered to be the finest so far in the U.S. mobile phone market. This clamshell phone sets off multi-features like voice dialing, voice memo, 32-poly ring tone, etc.

From the world’s first 330,000 pixel camera phone (PD-6000) introduced in 2002 to CDMA 1x slim bar camera phone (CDM-8450) shipped out early this year, Curitel has served the customers with newer and better products. As a result, the gradual recognition by North American end users makes it possible to reach 6 million mark on the mobile exports by year end. In turn, on July 1st, 2004, Curitel brought to the market the world’s first camera phone with 2x optical zoom with embedded CCD of 2 Mpix. Apparently, the company will remain a major provider of mobile phone for the U.S. carriers like Verizon Wirelss and Sprint PCS, and its exports to North America will soon amount to 9.8 million units in 2005 and 14 million units in 2006 respectively.
