3G UMTS and EDGE Wireless Now Available Austria-wide

Europe : Mobilkom Austria announced that its A1 high-speed multimedia UMTS + EDGE network is now available Austria-wide. UMTS already has over 62% coverage of the population today. The addition of EDGE provides 97% network coverage, whereby the Group's wireless customers are thus being offered the first and only Austria-wide high-performance wireless network of the third generation.

Besides leading network coverage, UMTS + EDGE provide all Austrians with mobile high-speed multimedia services as well as considerable acceleration of download and streaming applications. Sophisticated services, such as A1 NAVI, with a fully-fledged satellite navigation system for mobile phones, or the new A1 RADIOZONE, can thus be used even faster and more conveniently. Abroad, the use of high quality high-speed multimedia services is possible in 23 countries with A1 UMTS + EDGE Roaming.

In addition, for the first time UMTS + EDGE enables wireless customers Austria-wide to use mobile broadband services via laptop, PDA or mobile phone. Thus, wireless customers can access the corporate intranet or larger emails with attachments anytime - with A1 MOBILE BROADBAND or DATA FLEX PLUS - not only at high-speed, but also at special low prices.

Attractive fully capable UMTS + EDGE mobile phones are already available commercially: Nokia 6630, the current Nokia 6680 and Nokia 9300.

At the end of 2005/beginning of 2006 mobilkom austria plans to start with the rollout of HSDPA (=High Speed Downlink Packet Access) in urban areas. In this way mobilkom austria's unique countrywide network strategy will be gradually complemented and thus will make mobile broadband 51 times faster than GPRS.
