Key Themes For The 3GSM World Congress Asia

ASIA : The number of mobile subscribers in Asia is set to top one billion by 2006, making the region the largest mobile market in the world. Strategies for driving and serving unprecedented growth, including extending access to mobility, and delivering compelling content in the visual mobile age, are among the top agenda items at the forthcoming 3GSM World Congress Asia, in Singapore this September.

Headline speakers confirmed for the GSM Association’s second World Congress of the year include an extraordinary line up of industry leaders – including more than 30 mobile industry CEOs, with the highest level representation from across the evolving mobile value chain.

The first 3GSM World Congress Asia last year saw 50 per cent of attendees visiting from outside Asia, with 40 per cent of the delegates representing their companies at Board level.

“No other event in Asia brings this quality of thought leadership from around the world together to address the strategic challenges and opportunities we face as an industry today,” said Bill Gajda, Chief Marketing Officer for the GSM Association. “Last year saw a tenfold increase in attendance at the Congress. With this year’s comprehensive agenda and the increasing importance of Asia in the world’s mobile market, we expect interest levels to surge again this year.”

3GSM World Congress Asia provides clearly defined streams addressing mobile strategy and mobile technology, plus the Emerging Markets ‘show within a show’, designed to advance the growth of mobile communications in emerging economies. The GSM Association will also announce in Singapore, the vendor selected to supply the next Ultra Low Cost handset, as part of its second phase of the Emerging Market Initiative

The exhibition and conference are co-located with the GSM Association Members’ Forum and the Roamfest, designed to facilitate bilateral inter-operator roaming agreements, attended by GSM Association operator members from around the world.

3GSM Asia World Congress takes place at the Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Singapore, from 26-30 September.
