UK : Young adults are pushing mobile internet usage upwards and upwards says a new report from CCS Insight. In fact, they say mobile internet usage is increasing at an ever increasing rate and social networking is the driving force.
The researchers interviewed adults between the ages of over 16s and under 35s. The number of adults involved in the survey was greater than 1000.
The report confirms :
- Twice as many men access the mobile internet than women.
- Social networking is driving the explosive growth of the mobile internet.
- 33% of young adults are accessing Facebook and Twitter via mobile phones.
- Those surveyed expect mobile content to be free.
Paolo Pescatore ( inset ), Head of Mobile Content at CCS Insight, said:
"The Web is revolutionizing the way people use mobile phones. Forget music downloads and video – social networking is what people want. Media owners and operators will have to find new ways to make money from their assets. And it's clear from the report that the industry could do a better job marketing to women. Some networks and phone-makers have got it right. Their rivals are leaving money on the table."
