Korea : LG has confirmed that it’s sold over 5 million LG-KP500 “Cookie” mobiles worldwide, in nine months since its launch. This makes the cookie LG’s fastest selling mobile device in the companies history.
The LG Cookie has been available in over 60 countries and was launched in November 2008, with the phone achieving 1 million sales in the first 14 weeks.
Placed end-to-end, the line of Cookies sold would be over 60 times the height of Everest.
“Achieving five million units in sales in only nine months is proof that we’re on track with our goal to make Cookie a phone that’s loved by everyone,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Our strategy to provide a full touch screen phone at an affordable price has succeeded beyond our original expectations. If the current trend continues, we expect to see Cookie hit sales of 10 million by the end of this year.”
The LG Cookie is a slim and lightweight handset, featuring a 3.0 mega pixel camera, 3D accelerometer and an Active Flash User Interface. Today, the LG cookie is available in 10 colours including black, brown, silver and gold.
