| NTT DoCoMo to Expand FOMA 3G Service Areas |

NTT DoCoMo will also expand the number of FOMA network base stations in existing service areas. Base stations in the Kanto-Koshinetsu region, including inside buildings and underground areas, will increase to 2,500 and nationwide they will increase to 7,000. The figures stood at 2,200 and 6,300, respectively, as of end-March 2003. DoCoMo also announced that WORLD WING™, the FOMA international roaming service that enables subscribers to use their same mobile phone numbers overseas, will be expanded by five countries to a total of 58 on June 16, 2003. The new countries are Brazil, Canada, China, Pakistan and Vietnam. With the addition, WORLD WING will cover approximately 92% of the global destinations frequented by Japanese travelers. The companies will continue to enhance its FOMA service both at home and abroad. FOMA is scheduled to reach 99% of Japan's population by end-March 2004 and virtually the entire population by end-March 2005. The company's In-building Mobile Communication System (IMCS) will be operating in some 1,600 buildings within existing service areas by end-March 2004. Overseas, DoCoMo will continue increasing the number of countries for the WORLD WING roaming service. *Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Yamanashi, Nagano and Niigata prefectures. |
