Europe : Dilithium Networks, a leading provider of wireless multimedia solutions, announced the introduction of the DTG 2000TM wireless multimedia gateway. The carrier-class, high-density gateway enables mobile operators to offer a new class of revenue-generating services such as video telephony, video mail/video call answering, and real-time video streaming. The DTG 2000 incorporates the company's patent-pending signal processing technology, called UnicodingTM, which is altering the economics of offering revenue-generating voice and video services by enabling real-time translation of bitstreams on the fly, without full decoding and re-encoding. This results in very substantial reductions in cost per channel, computer MIPS, and memory requirements, as well as improved quality, lower delays and higher channel densities, compared to gateways that use tandem transcoding technology. The DTG 2000 wireless multimedia gateway interconnects 3G-324M-based wireless networks to H.323-based packet networks enabling universal access to multimedia services. It provides session (proxy) transcoding services as well as extended media transcoding support for a wide range of voice and video codecs. The DTG 2000 is a feature rich gateway with a highly scalable architecture and remote management capabilities. "The DTG 2000 gateway minimizes transcoding delays and thereby enhances the quality of voice and video communications," said Dr. Marwan Jabri, founder and CTO of Dilithium Networks. "Our Unicoding technology enables up to an 800% increase in session density (compared to traditional transcoding technology) substantially reducing long term cost of ownership. The DTG 2000 is a very attractive solution for mobile operators, OEMs and system integrators who are seeking to provide services and solutions for next-generation wireless networks." The DTG 2000 supercedes Dilithium Networks' DCT 2000 product and extends its functionality by offering further support for media standards, call logging support as well as improved management capabilities. The DTG 2000 is available today in trial quantities and will be available in volume in Q4 2003. |
