|
US :Spirent Communications announced that it will offer the first test solution for benchmarking and validating emerging 2.5G and 3G GGSN data-over-wireless equipment and services. Spirent's GPRS Performance Test System, co-developed with Nortel Networks(a), can help ensure that GGSN implementations meet industry standards, interoperate with other network devices, and scale to deliver high performance, revenue generating 3G applications -- critical factors that can help accelerate the rapid deployment of 3G technology. Gateway GPRS Support Nodes (GGSN) are mobile edge routers and the workhorses of a GSM or UMTS wireless network. Spirent's GPRS Performance Test System provides the only means to emulate hundreds of thousands of mobile data users accessing the wireless network simultaneously. With both control plane and data plane functionality, Spirent's GPRS Performance Test System provides "real-world" emulation of mobile users moving between cells, connecting and disconnecting, and transferring data. "Service providers and equipment manufacturers can now embrace 2.5G and 3G wireless technologies with confidence, armed with the knowledge of precisely how their wireless technology will perform under even the most difficult conditions," said Mark Fishburn, vice president of technical strategy for Spirent Communications. "The GPRS Performance Test System builds upon Spirent's expertise in core service provider communications technologies with true carrier-scale performance and feature tests. It extends Spirent's existing portfolio of wireless air interface emulation and impairment products into the network infrastructure and paves the way for the 3G network migration." About Spirent Communications Spirent Communications is a worldwide provider of integrated performance analysis and service assurance systems for next-generation network technologies. Spirent's solutions accelerate the profitable development and deployment of network equipment and services by emulating real-world conditions in the lab and assuring end-to-end performance of large-scale networks. www.spirentcom.com |
