Huawei showed 110kbps EDGE Wireless System

8th June , 2004

ASIA : Huawei successfully participated in the ITU Telecom Africa in Egypt. The 2G and 3G shared soft-switch MSC/HLR solution, GPRS and EGDE systems were all exhibited. Huawei's EDGE system was the highlight of the exhibition.

Huawei's 2G and 3G shared soft-switch MSC/HLR supports not only GSM, but also WCDMA, enabling a smooth evolution which saves the operators' existing equipment investment as much as possible. Furthermore, it supports VoIP, enabling IP transmission based on good QoS assurance and thus saving transmisson cost by over 30%. The excellent performance gives explanation to the China Mobile TMSC1 and TMSC2 project contract which was signed between Huawei and China Mobile in April, 2004.

Huawei's GPRS supports not only 2.5G GPRS but also 2.75G EDGE and 3G GPRS on the same hardware and software platform, enabling a smooth evolution which also saves operators' existing equipment investment. During the exhibition, Huawei's EDGE system was exhibited successfully and with two time slots bound together, the data rate reached 110kbps.
