Protocol Tester for 3G W-CDMA Phones

US : Anritsu Corporation (President: Akira Shiomi) announced that it is accepting orders from June 8 for its new MX785281A W-CDMA Network Simulation Library, the test sequence program (test case) [*1] that enables to perform protocol tests of W-CDMA 3G mobile phone terminals conforming to 3GPP standards (Ver. Mar.03).

When the MX785281A is installed in a control PC and combined with MD8480B W-CDMA Signalling Tester (artificial base station), the operation of mobile phone terminals can be checked in the development phase under almost the same environment as real W-CDMA mobile phone network. Smooth shift to the final operation check test on real network realizes the enhancement of development efficiency and cost reduction. Furthermore, Anritsu contributes to smooth development of W-CDMA 3G mobile phone terminals that are globalizing worldwide such as in Europe and Asian countries.

MD8480B Signalling Tester:
The measuring instrument that can simulate operations in actual call processing, communications and data communication state of mobile phone terminals by operating similarly to the W-CDMA 3G mobile phone base station.

[Development Background]

The 3G mobile phone service that is rapidly spreading in Japan is being introduced in Europe and Asian countries. Under such circumstances, Japanese and overseas terminal makers are actively engaged in the development and verification of W-CDMA mobile phone terminals.

Terminal makers must go off to the site where the service will be introduced and conduct the final protocol test of W-CDMA 3G mobile phone terminals by connecting to real network on site. The development of high-quality mobile phone terminals is crucial for smooth testing on real network and cost saving.

Therefore, each terminal maker requires the solution that enables the development of mobile phone terminals for smooth final protocol testing on real network.

To meet such requirements, Anritsu has developed MX785281A W-CDMA Network Simulation Library. This product provides the test case developed jointly by Anritsu and NTT DoCoMo, Inc. based on NTT DoCoMo, Inc's experience of W-CDMA 3G mobile phone service operation. The verification of terminal operations is realized under almost the same environment as real network(*1). Before shifting to the final protocol test on site, high-quality mobile phones can be developed efficiently. This, finally, contributes to the smooth development of W-CDMA 3G mobile phone terminals that are globalizing.

MX785281A W-CDMA Network Simulation Library is the test case for protocol tests that verifies communication quality in the development of W-CDMA 3G mobile phone terminals.
