Orange 3G Launch Strategy

Europe : In February 2004, Orange delivered a 3G strategy update in which it announced commercial 3G trials of the its networks in the UK and France.

In addition, part of the strategy announced was the creation of nine 3G Developer Centres across the globe and confirmation that it was on track to launch full commercial 3G services to customers in France and the UK in the second half of 2004.

The latest development is that Orange will announce an updated 3G strategy on Thursday, 1st July at a press conference to be held in London.

The industry beleives that Orange will confirm and bring forward its 3G network launch in the UK and France and outline the success of the 3G network and 3G phone trials so far conducted. It is also believed that Orange will confirm its 3G phone suppliers at the same news conference. Hot contenders are Motorola and LG.

Back in February also , Orange confirmed it was fully in line to launch commercial services across 3G network in second half of 2004.

- Commercial trials to be launched in France and UK
- Orange 3G network live in over 20 cities including London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Cannes, Toulouse and Lille
- Orange 3G Developer Centres to be launched across the globe
- Key partners Alcatel, Nokia and Nortel working together to deliver fully integrated 3G Orange network

More news will become available on Thursday via the official Orange 3G News Conference in London on Thursday 1st July, 2004.
