US : NMS Communications announced general availability of the newest member of its Vision family of media servers, the Vision VoiceXML Server.

The Vision VoiceXML Server is designed to accelerate the development and deployment of revenue-generating voice and video applications such as video mail and voice/video messaging in 2.5G and 3G networks, satisfying the high demand for these types of applications among mobile users worldwide.

“To successfully increase revenues, mobile video applications must offer easy consumer interaction, and the rapidly expanding supply of video content presents a challenge for developers who must constantly refine user interfaces,” said Brian Partridge, senior analyst with the Yankee Group. “By integrating video technology into a VoiceXML platform, NMS is now offering developers the means to render this constantly changing video content as easily as rendering audio content.”

VoiceXML dramatically reduces the effort to build, modify and maintain emerging interactive video applications such as on-demand video media distribution, video sharing or video messaging. VoiceXML is the perfect environment to meet the stringent requirements of video services and adapt them to an ever changing world.

“Our Vision VoiceXML Server provides a complete solution that allows customers to bring their speech and video services to market in record time,” said John Orlando, chief marketing officer for NMS. “The Vision VoiceXML Server will help network equipment providers achieve their ultimate goal of offering their operator customers flexible and easy-to-integrate video solutions that help increase revenues and build customer retention.”

The Vision VoiceXML Server is compliant with W3C VoiceXML 2.0 and 2.1 specifications and can be used to build VoiceXML-controlled applications that can be deployed in IP/SIP, TDM/SS7 and 3G networks. Along with SIP-based IP video, the Vision VoiceXML Server also supports the circuit video standard 3G-324M. The Vision VoiceXML Server provides very high service availability, and servers may be easily added or removed from service to increase capacity or perform system maintenance.
