US / ASIA : QUALCOMM and Longcheer Technology (BVI) Limited, a leading Chinese mobile handset designer, announced that the companies have entered into a commercial WCDMA modem card license agreement. Under the terms of the royalty-bearing agreement, QUALCOMM has granted Longcheer a worldwide license under its CDMA patent portfolio to develop, manufacture and sell 3G WCDMA modem cards. The royalties payable by Longcheer are at QUALCOMM's standard worldwide rates.

"QUALCOMM is pleased to enter into this license agreement with Longcheer, enabling another Chinese company to develop, manufacture and sell WCDMA modem cards to the worldwide market," said Marvin Blecker, president of QUALCOMM Technology Licensing. "QUALCOMM's extensive licensing of companies such as Longcheer continues to increase the number of WCDMA device suppliers, driving down the prices of subscriber devices, increasing the availability of a wide choice of features and enabling the proliferation of WCDMA around the world. This license enables Longcheer to participate in this rapidly-growing market and to provide superior 3G wireless solutions to its customers."
