| New 3G VideoMail Solution |

This follows a tie-up between key partner Ericsson, Sun Microsystems and Mobeon, a provider of mobile messaging software. The new solution is in addition to existing, traditional voice-only messaging capabilities. One of the aims of video voicemail is to deliver further revenue-generating opportunities for mobile operators such as call-completions services as well as to help them build brand loyalty and attract new customers. For the end-user, videomail offers the ability to send messagesincluding facial expressions and body language, which means they are less likely to be misinterpreted. Research shows that between 60-80% of communication is via body language, with only 7-10% attributable to the actual words of a conversation1. Users will also be able to choose their personal greeting answering the voicemail box, such as a TV clip or a celebrity greeting. "Mobeon develops and delivers IP messaging solutions that are one step ahead of where mobile operators are now. Having this kind of foresight means we can offer the operators new cost-effective revenue generating opportunities," said Huw Hampson-Jones, executive vice-president of sales at Mobeon. "In such a competitive market, operators are always looking for new functions to offer customers and build brand loyalty. We've developed the 3G videomail solution with Ericsson entirely in response to customer demand," said Robert Vangstad, vice-president of marketing at Mobeon. "We already have three operators that have expressed an interest in incorporating videomail into their 3G offerings, and it will be available this summer." Anna Kristoffersson, product marketing at Ericsson, and Peter Källgren, sales support and marketing services at Ericsson, will be giving demos of the product at the Ericsson Internet Cafe any day at the event. |
