3G Network Optimisation

3rd March , 2004

US : Bytemobile, Inc., the company that enables pure, optimized access over any remote connection, today announced the latest release of its breakthrough enterprise optimization solution, the Optigo Enterprise Optimizer Release 1.3. This new release builds on the Optigo solution's proven benefits of providing a LAN-like user experience for enterprise remote access users of email, web and other enterprise applications. The Optigo enterprise optimization solution is based on Bytemobile's Macara™ Dynamic Optimization technology, which is at the core of our network-based optimization solution now commercially deployed by more than twenty leading wireless operators worldwide.

"The Optigo Enterprise Optimizer Release 1.3 represents a powerful step up in performance for our optimization solution and underscores our commitment to making enterprise applications truly usable for remote users," says Steve Livingston, Bytemobile's executive vice president of worldwide sales and marketing. "This latest release addresses the inefficiencies that make the most commonly used web and email applications difficult to use when out of the office and delivers up to a tenfold performance improvement over 3G, 2.5G and other networks. The solution is easy to deploy and works with the enterprise's existing security infrastructure."

The Optigo Enterprise Optimizer Release 1.3 supports three levels of optimization: (1) protocol-agnostic optimization that accelerates and provides data-reduction benefits for almost any TCP application; (2) protocol-specific optimization for key applications protocols such as HTTP, file sharing, POP, IMAP, SMTP and proprietary email; and (3) applications-specific optimization for applications such as Microsoft® Outlook®, enabling a LAN-like experience when using Outlook remotely.

Optigo Enterprise Optimizer Release 1.3 Features and Functionality

The Optigo Enterprise Optimizer Release 1.3 incorporates a rich set of new features designed for ease of use, wide applicability and ease of deployment and management.

3G-ready: As operators continue to roll out 3G networks worldwide, more enterprises are mobilizing their workforces with laptops and data cards. Now that network speeds are higher, the remaining barrier to truly effective mobile office use is overall application usability. Many corporate applications were designed strictly for LAN use and do not perform well in a remote setting. This is where optimization becomes a critical component in a 3G network. In fact, the Optigo enterprise optimizer provides ready-to-use profiles enabling remote users to benefit from Optigo optimization over 3G networks, including EDGE, WCDMA, EVDO and 4G experimental networks. This feature extends the list of predefined connection settings and gives remote users a comprehensive choice of networks over which they can get optimized remote access to their applications.

Optigo File Sharing Module: Users can license the optional Optigo File Sharing Module to accelerate remote browsing, accessing and transferring of files stored in shared drives on a LAN. Optigo File Sharing Module uses Macara Dynamic Delta technology to transparently optimize the Windows file-sharing process. The File Sharing Module client can be installed through a common install process.

Support for Outlook 2003 and Lotus® Notes®: Release 1.3 provides protocol-agnostic optimization for Outlook 2003 and Lotus Notes and Domino. Enterprises have the flexibility to upgrade their email programs and still benefit from the unique features found in Optigo optimization.

Security: Release 1.3 is compatible with leading VPN solutions and is deployed behind the enterprise firewall to enable optimization of data before it is encrypted. The Optigo solution also supports multiple login modes for different levels of user authentication and password security..

IT administration and management: Password-protected access to the Optigo server, automatic logging of all administration changes for audit purposes, and tracking of a broad range of usage statistics are some of the features that make Release 1.3 easy to deploy and manage.

Enhanced user interface and language support: A new user interface simplifies application and network settings and makes the user experience more intuitive. The Release 1.3 client is also available in European and Asian languages to further simplify deployment and use globally.
