First i-Mode Phone from a European Manufacturer

Europe : Vitelcom Mobile Technology (VITELCOM) today announces the successful launch of the first “i-mode step 2” handset manufactured by a European company. The first product launched in December 2003 for the European market is being supplied in volume to Telefonica Movistar for the Spanish market under the product name TSM30i.

The VM30i is packed with many advanced features including NTT DoCoMo approved i-Mode step2 browser and Doja gaming engine, VGA camera, a large 65K colour TFT LCD, MP3 player with SD card storage, GPRS tri-band communications, polyphonic ring tones, voice recorder and many other exciting and innovative features.

“The VM30i launch for the Christmas campaign of 2003 has topped a very successful year for VITELCOM. Sales of our products in Southern Europe and South America have passed all expectations,” says Carlos Carrero President and CEO of VITELCOM, “we look forward to continuing this success as we expand into other key markets, especially Europe during 2004. The i-mode market in Europe has recently reached the 2 millions subscribers and we believe that it will grow to 5 millions within 2004. We will support this growth by providing the latest technology within a customised and branded offer to meet the requirements of our Network operator clients.”

In Europe VITELCOM has positioned itself in the i-mode market where it has already become a major supplier offering products to the numerous i-mode operators located in Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy and Greece. VITELCOM will launch several other i-Mode step2 products during the first half of 2004 including VM30iv that adds video recorder and video player to the existing long list of features. VITELCOM continues to show its commitment to i-Mode with the planned launch of its first i-Mode step3 product later in 2004. VITELCOM continues to offer products for the rest of the world based on WAP/MMS technology and they will launch an ultra slim camera phone during the first half of 2004.

Vitel Mobile the brand name of VITELCOM will be participating in CeBIT from 18th to 24th March 2004 in hall26 stand D75, where you can meet with them to discuss your requirements and view their new and exciting range of multi-media mobile phones. They will be demonstrating their technology including i-Mode™, Java™, Video-streaming and many other applications. They will also be presenting their plans for UMTS.
