Europe : Huawei Technologies has introduced its latest range of 3G mobile phone handsets in Europe at the CeBIT Fair in Hannover, Germany. The new Huawei mobile handsets include U626, U326 and the E600 data card. This marks the next phase of Huawei's expansion and developments in the 3G space.

Huawei's new, handsets are based on WCDMA, GSM and CDMA systems, which include a variety of products such as the mobile phone, data card, fixed station, and so on. In particular, the new WCDMA handsets feature powerful functions and fashionable designs that target a wide range of European consumers from low to high end market segments. In addition to the new WCDMA terminals, Huawei is also introducing its CDMA2000 series mobile phones and wireless modular products. This powerful array of terminal products demonstrates Huawei's capabilities in providing end-to-end solutions in the 3G space, offering more, newer and better wireless terminal products for telecommunications operators.

The new products have been tested by the Ministry of Information Industry, China and delivered excellent performance results. Huawei implemented strict IPD (Integrated Product Development) and CMM (Capability Maturity Model) quality control processes and methods to ensure the products a sound quality. Specifically, Huawei's E600 data card received high praise and demonstrated excellent performance in the 3G tests held by mainstream European operators.

Dr. Xu Zhijun, Executive Vice President of Huawei said: "The launch of our new 3G handsets demonstrates Huawei's strength and leadership in this growing market segment. A recent report by market research firm Strategy Analytics indicated the expected growth of 3G mobile phones globally will increase by 100% to reach 40 million, from 2004 - 2005. Huawei was the first manufacturer in China to introduce the commercial use of 3G terminals, and today's announcement is the next step of our plans to bring our 3G handsets into international markets. The successful introduction of our 3G handsets in Hong Kong and Slovenia has generated handset orders in these markets. We are also expecting to see greater cooperation with European operators in product customization from today's product launch."

Huawei has set up a European Logistics Center in Amsterdam to provide logistics and after-sales service to support the launch of Huawei's new 3G handsets in Europe. Some of these services include a hotline for consumers and round-the-clock technical support as well as plans to organize fairs and trainings for consumers.

"The launch of our 3G handsets in Europe reinforces Huawei's position as a leading global communications vendor capable of providing a fully integrated 3G solution. We continue to focus our efforts in providing our customers with 3G mobile handsets and solutions that fit customers' requirements at the best value," added Dr. Xu.
